Greetings!
Thank you so much for your calls, emails, and letters of encouragement over the past month. The Lord put us on your hearts. You prayed for us and let us know. We so appreciate that!
We are greatly burdened for Ukraine and are war-weary. This winter will be the most difficult of this 4.9-year war. Our people are preparing to be without power 12-18 hours a day in some regions, and no power for weeks in others. Russia is mobilizing more men, and the war is no closer to ending than when it began. The United States made a deal with Putin this week to import Russian diesel fuel, which means that the United States has now become a financer of the war in Ukraine. Oleg’s mother is not doing well and still refuses to leave Ukraine or go to the hospital for real help. The Lord recently provided her with a new caregiver. Please pray for her salvation; she is 90 years old and still lives by Soviet, communist ideals. Her name is Valentina. We are trusting in our GREAT GOD to give us peace as we pray for God’s intervention in these seemingly impossible situations.
We write this update from Amsterdam Airport. In a somewhat comedy of errors, our plane was delayed in NYC because another plane in line to take off in front of us broke down and had to be towed. That left us stranded on the runway for 2 hours. When we got to Amsterdam, the flight deck would not connect to our plane, and we missed our connection to the mission conference destination. We now have a 9-hour layover :). While we were flying, a tornado hit our neighborhood in Raleigh. We landed to pictures of trees down all around our home, but praise the Lord, no trees on our house. We are headed to a mission conference retreat for EU and Ukrainian missionaries. The Lord clearly orchestrated this trip, but He’s also allowing us to lean into trusting Him with the delays and problems at home. Please pray that this week will be especially encouraging to Simon, who is 16. This conference has a separate retreat for MKs. Our heart’s desire is to see Simon encouraged and refreshed as these past years have held so much sorrow.
We so covet your prayers for Ukraine, that the Lord would end this war and use it to bring many to the saving knowledge of His Son Jesus Christ. Life is short, and we all need to be “redeeming the time” because the days are truly evil. Thank you for praying for us!
We have attached pictures of all the ministries you support: Orphan care, refugee feeding ministry, humanitarian aid+Gospel witness, soldier care, pastor support in Ukraine, and beautiful baptism pictures that give us HOPE that even in the midst of war, the Lord is working all things together for good!
